Objectives: Upon completion of this course participants should be able to:
- Understand key terms used in ASC 606: Revenue from Contracts with Customers.
- Know transition methods available to non-public companies and implications of each method available.
- Discuss practical expedients available to non-public companies.
- Describe the 5-Step Model introduced by ASC 606 for recording revenue from contracts with customers.
- Identify the contract with the customer
- Identify performance obligations
- Determine the transaction price
- Allocate transaction price to performance obligations
- Record revenue when or as the performance obligation is satisfied.
- Identify which are the financial statement disclosure requirements applicable to non-public companies
- Explain key challenges in the assessment and implementation of the new standard.
