Description: The audit planning is an essential part of the audit process. Preliminary planning includes deciding on an overall strategy for the audit, obtaining an understanding of the entity and its environment, including its internal control, making an initial assessment of audit risk and materiality, and deciding on the overall timing of the engagement. We will review the risk assessment process and the documentation needed. Examples of different types of work papers and documentation regarding:  preliminary analytical procedures, memos and audit strategy will be provided to the participants.

Objectives: Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:

1. Determine which workpapers are needed for the planning area.
2. Learn how to document workpapers and prepare memos depending on the type of entities.
3. Identify the key points and strategies to document the understanding of the entity and its environment.
