Workshop on Accounting for Municipalities-PR (Virtual)
State and Local Government Accounting and Financial Reporting: The Foundation and Compliance with Law No. 81 for the Municipalities of PR. Fund accounting and fund relationship. General Fund and special revenue funds. Budgeting, budgetary accounting and budgetary reporting. Revenue accounting – governmental funds. Expenditure accounting – governmental funds. Capital project funds. General Capital Assets and Capital Asset Impairments. Debt Service and General Long-Term Debt. Enterprise Funds. Internal Service Funds. Fiduciary Funds. Financial Reporting: the basic financial statements, disclosures in notes to financial statements and required supplementary information.
Objectives: Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Explain how fund accounting works.
- Explain the budgeting process, accounting, controls and reporting.
- Describe the accounting system and cycle for municipalities and how these work.
- Describe the financial reporting process and related reconciliations.
