This course is designed to understand essential foundations for retirement planning within the conceptual framework of the “Statement On Standards of Personal Financial Planning Services”, SSPFPS #1 issued by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) under the Personal Financial credential. In addition, the seminar consolidates aspects of investment management, taxation and risks, within the stages of a person's economic life cycle, from pre-retirement to retirement, considering life expectancy and other personal financial goals, as well as their savings habits vs. Consumption.

Objectives: Upon completion of this course participants should be able to:

  1. Know the fundamentals of financial planning and SSPFPS #1.
  2. Identify relevant personal financial planning fundamentals.
  3. Learn the basics of retirement planning creating lifetime income in retirement.
  4. Identify the foundations of contributory and inheritance planning in the context of retirement planning.
  5. Apply the knowledge learned through a case study.
